ResumenEn el presente artículo se estudia la vida y la obra de Enrique José Romero Brest, primer médico deportólogo argentino y destacado fundador de la enseñanza de la educación física en la República Argentina. Se realiza en consecuencia una investigación y comentario crítico de sus principales escritos y un resumen de su labor médico-docente, encuadrando la misma dentro de los avatares de la época en que se desarrolló su accionar. Se aclara que por provenir los autores del campo de las ciencias de la salud, su investigación se centrará en los aspectos médicos de la educación física, dejando los comentarios pedagógicos para ser desarrollados por los docentes.
Abstract
Enrique Romero Brest and the beginning of physical education in schools. His time, his life, his thinking and his work The following article studies work and life of Enrique Romero Brest, the first Argentinean doctor specialized in sport medicine, and distinguished founder of the teaching of physical education and gymnastics in Argentina. In this paper the authors investigate and comment his main works and make a summary of his labor -as a doctor and as a teacher- contextualizing it within the historical period he lived in. As all the authors come from health careers, this investigation is centered mainly in the medical aspects of physical education, leaving the education outlook for pedagogy experts.
