La Sociedad Cubana de Historia de la Medicina convoca al IV Congreso Nacional de Historia de la Medicina y Segunda Reunión Técnica de la Red Latinoamericana de Historiadores de las Ciencias de la Salud, que tendrá lugar del 19-21 de noviembre próximos en Cuba en conmemoración del Centenario de la fundación del Primer Ministerio de Salud Pública del mundo.
El tema central del congreso será: "El centenario del Primer Ministerio de Salud Pública del mundo: logros y perspectivas".

Job offer: Assistant Professor in the History of Science at the University of Notre Dame

 

The Program of Liberal Studies (PLS) at the University of Notre Dame seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the history of science, beginning Fall 2010. PLS is a Great Books department with 150 undergraduate majors, founded in 1950, with its own tenure-line faculty trained in various disciplines and committed to an integrated program of undergraduate studies. They are looking for candidates eager to pursue their teaching and research in the context of an interdisciplinary department offering a curriculum based on primary texts.

Area of study is open, with a preference for the history of the physical or life sciences in any period from the seventeenth-century to the present. Undergraduate teaching responsibilities will include leading Great Books seminars, teaching courses in the Program's natural science sequence (“Fundamental Concepts of Natural Science,” “Scientific Inquiry: Theories and Practices,” and “Science, Society, and the Human Person”), and directing senior theses. The successful candidate will also teach in Notre Dame’s graduate program in the History and Philosophy of Science.
