Convocatoria a las mejores tesis de licenciatura y posgrado La Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, a través de la Comisión Universitaria para los Festejos de los Cien Años de la Universidad Nacional, convoca al concurso de las mejores tesis de licenciatura y posgrado alusivas a la historia, desarrollo y aportaciones de la Universidad Nacional, con el fin de propiciar la reflexión sistemática sobre el pasado, el presente y el futuro de nuestra Casa de Estudios, bajo las siguientes BASES: PRIMERA. Podrán participar los egresados de licenciatura, maestría y doctorado de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. SEGUNDA. Se podrán presentar tesis de licenciatura, maestría y doctorado, escritas en español, cuyo contenido se refiera a la Universidad Nacional en el periodo 1910-2010 y que hayan sido presentadas en el examen de grado correspondiente, entre el día de la emisión de la presente convocatoria y hasta el 10 de diciembre de 2010. TERCERA. El plazo para la entrega de las tesis inicia a partir de la publicación de la presente convocatoria y concluirá el 23 de abril de 2011. Las tesis se recibirán en el Instituto de Investigaciones sobre la Universidad y la Educación (lISUE) de la UNAM, en la Secretaría Académica, en el 5° piso de su edificio, ubicado al lado norte de la Sala Nezahualcóyotl, en el Centro Cultural Universitario. El horario de entrega será de las 10:00 A.M. a las 14:00 P.M. en días hábiles. Se deberán entregar tres ejemplares impresos, una copia en archivo electrónico (.doc, .rtf o compatible), un resumen del trabajo, que incluya los siguientes datos: título del trabajo, director de tesis, objetivos y principales conclusiones; currículum vitae del autor, correo electrónico y número telefónico en la Ciudad de México. CUARTA. Las tesis sometidas al concurso serán evaluadas por un jurado calificador que se denominará JURADO DEL PREMIO A LAS MEJORES TESIS SOBRE LA UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL, designado por la Comisión Universitaria para los Festejos de los Cien Años de la Universidad Nacional. Para apoyar las labores de evaluación de las tesis presentadas, el Jurado del Premio podrá auxiliarse de académicos de reconocido prestigio en la materia. QUINTA. Los premios consistirán en un diploma, la publicación de la obra -en caso de ser inédita- y un estímulo económico: Para la mejor tesis de doctorado $50,000 (cincuenta mil pesos 00/100 MN) Para la mejor tesis de maestría $35,000 (treinta y cinco mil pesos 00/100 MN) Para la mejor tesis de licenciatura $20,000 (veinte mil pesos 00/100 MN) Se otorgarán menciones honoríficas a las tesis que el Jurado determine. El Jurado podrá recomendar la publicación de las mismas. Tratándose de tesis grupales, el premio se dividirá por partes iguales entre sus integrantes. Los participantes responderán de la originalidad de las tesis, por lo que liberan a la UNAM de cualquier reclamación presente o futura que pudiera derivar por el uso de obras de terceros, independientemente de las sanciones que se puedan aplicar en términos de la Legislación Universitaria. SEXTA. La decisión del Jurado será inapelable. El Jurado podrá declarar desierto uno o la totalidad de los premios. SÉPTIMA. Los resultados se darán a conocer a más tardar el 2 de septiembre de 2011 y se publicarán en la Gaceta UNAM. OCTAVA. Los premios serán entregados por la Comisión en el lugar y fecha que ésta determine en ceremonia especial. NOVENA. Quienes resulten ganadores en este certamen cederán los derechos inherentes de su tesis a la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, liberándola de cualquier reclamo presente o futuro que sobre este asunto pudiera suscitarse. La cesión de derechos se formalizará en la Dirección General de Asuntos Jurídicos dependiente de la Oficina del Abogado General. Los participantes que no reciban ningún premio, donarán sus tesis a los acervos de las bibliotecas de la UNAM, para lo cual la Institución dará la constancia correspondiente. Las tesis ganadoras pasarán a formar parte del Patrimonio Universitario y podrán utilizarse para los fines que la UNAM considere convenientes respetando los derechos correspondientes de los autores. DÉCIMA. La participación en este concurso implica la aceptación de los términos establecidos en esta Convocatoria. DÉCIMA PRIMERA. Los casos no previstos en esta Convocatoria serán resueltos por la Comisión. Bioethics Post-Doctoral Fellowship Opportunity These are two-year paid fellowships in our department beginning in September of each year. Requests for one-year fellowships will also be considered. Typically the Department accepts three post-doctoral fellows annually. Our fellows come from a range of disciplines and recent fellows have trained in philosophy, political science, economics, medicine, law and nursing.
The fellowships are designed to provide a comprehensive bioethics experience. Approximately 70% of a fellow’s time is devoted to mentored research. Fellows also spend some time on coursework, including a formal survey course on bioethics, a lecture course on the ethics of human subject research, and a two semester joint colloquium on special topics in bioethics along with faculty and students from George Washington University, Georgetown University, University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. In addition, fellows gain experience by serving on one of the NIH IRBs and participating on the Clinical Center Ethics Consultation Service. Each fellow also attends clinical rounds with one of the various services in the Clinical Center. The successful candidate will join the faculty of the School of Social Transformation and will have a joint appointment in two of the school’s faculties: African and African American Studies, Asian Pacific American Studies, Justice and Social Inquiry, and Women and Gender Studies. The school seeks a candidate whose research focuses primarily on processes of social change or social transformation, engages intersectional, transdisciplinary research, and explores global and local interconnections. The candidate will contribute to the development of diverse new degrees and certificates.
