Archaia/Nea - Publication of the Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions

Archaia/Nea
means "Ancient/New" in Classical Greek. This is the Newsletter of the Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions. Ancient/New without and or any other link between the two terms. Ancient and New are not juxtaposed, but create an interactive sequence, a direct shift from Ancient to New and probably even to the Future. Archaia/Nea is best understood as The Future of the Past. Because this is what the Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions is about: giving a future to the past, Inspiring Innovation from Tradition.

Research at the Institute is not antiquarianism or nostalgic historicism. It is applied history: recovering the written record of the medical practice of the past, preserving it—as often such record is fading and is even threatened with disappearance—analyzing, interpreting and integrating it in collaboration with specialists from a wide range of scientific fields in a transdisciplinary way, and making traditions available for new, innovative, and path-breaking investigations.

Archaia/Nea is the messenger of the activity carried out at the Institute, a board for announcements, a medium for circulating information across the globe, and, more than anything else, the link between the Institute and its many Partners and Associates worldwide.

We, the founders of the Institute, are pleased to welcome you to the Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions [link to home page] and thank you for your interest in, and support to our activity. Without its Partners and Associates, the Institute would be just an idea. Now it is a reality, a mission, and a promise. Every quarter, Archaia/Nea will report on the reality of the Institute, the accomplishment of its mission, and the fulfilment of its promises.
